Christmas is a time for giving, a time for family, a time for...oh hell, let's not kid ourselves. Christmas time is prime time for upgrading your decrepit gaming rig. Even though there are only a couple of days left until Santa makes his deliveries faster than the Fed Ex guy, it isn't too late to conveniently leave a "Wish List" laying around your significant others' favorite place to hang out. Guys, we recommend taping your list to the phone - no way she will miss it. Ladies, the remote control is your target. If, by chance, the list gets misplaced and you end up with a new Dustbuster Ultra instead of a new GeForce2 Ultra, SharkyForums.com will be here for you to vent. Right after you finish vacuuming the living room, tough guy. We'll tell it like Mazda: Get in. Be moved.
Each week we take several of the most popular/insightful/controversial threads and present them to you for easy digestion. Feel free to add your own thoughts (subtract the profanity, please) and help us multiply the reader participation here at Sharky Extreme (and you thought math was tough!). We've added links on each spotlight page so you can easily add your own comments and contribute to the debate! If your repartee strikes us as useful, humorous, or otherwise entertaining, it stands the distinct possibility of being featured next week. Without further ado...

Who's Buying What Processor For Christmas?
If you don't get a new processor for Christmas, then you have a great excuse to buy one. What are you looking at? Pentium III still has your interest? How about a new Thunderbird? If you landed a ripe Christmas bonus, you might be looking at the Pentium 4. As for me, I'm still saving for next year.
Knights
One of our moderators, Sapasion, has formed an order of ka-nig-its (if you're into Monty Python) dedicated to overclocking. If you haven't upgraded to 256MB of RAM, then you'd better read this thread in its entirety as you may be subject to the "Christmas Beat Down." We wouldn't want that now, would we?
SMT Technology In The Pentium 4 Xeon?
The latest rumor has it that the Pentium 4 Xeon will support SMT. SMT, or Simultaneous Multithreading, allows multiple program paths (threads) to be run concurrently inside the processor. SMT allows a single processor to appear to the OS as two or more logical processors, thus giving dual processing or better performance without having to spend the money for a dual processor or better platform.
RIP 3dfx, You Will Be Dearly Missed
Last week we announced the sale of 3dfx's technologies to NVIDIA, and this week a few of the forum members say their farewells. Is it just me, or does anyone else see coincidence in R. Kelly's timely release of "I Wish" last week?
