  • At a time where it seems as though the entire country is under a deluge of rain and snow, how would we possibly be happy? Granted, the fact that the top of the convertible has to stay up is relatively dismal, but at least we have a little more time to contribute to SharkyForums.com! If your computer resides near a fireplace, it may even be possible to convince your significant other that a roaring fire, a bottle of Dom Perignon, and SharkyForums.com can be considered a romantic evening! Just remember to keep coming back - like the Energizer Bunny, we keep going and going and going…

Each week we take several of the most popular/insightful/controversial threads and present them to you for easy digestion. Feel free to add your own thoughts (subtract the profanity, please) and help us multiply the reader participation here at Sharky Extreme (and you thought math was tough…). We've added links on each spotlight page so you can easily add your own comments and contribute to the debate! If your repartee strikes us as useful, humorous, or otherwise entertaining, it stands the distinct possibility of being featured next week. Without further ado…

What Would You Think About Putting RDRAM On A Video Card
We all know that memory bandwidth is a limiting factor in today's graphics industry, so how will this problem be solved? Arcadian has proposed using RDRAM, which could potentially boost memory bandwidth. Unfortunately, memory controllers would need to be developed, making it a distant possibility.

Is 128MB Enough For Windows 2000?
Right now I am running Win2K on a machine with 512MB, and I noticed a difference from when I had 256MB. It only stands to reason that the move from 128MB to 256MB would also show a significant performance increase. If you'd like to see some other opinions, check this thread out!

    The Kings Of Fans
Every overclocker has his or her favorite cooling equipment. We'd like to hear what you use to cool your custom system with. Fans, heatsinks, Peltiers, and water-cooling devices are all welcome!

    ATI Vs. NVIDIA In 2001
Now that 3dfx is out of the picture, the graphics card market has become more interesting. Providing NVIDIA maintains their aggressive marketing strategy, what will become of the other players in the industry? Does ATI have enough steam to compete, especially since NVIDIA just picked up the G4 line? Post your opinions here!

    Solid State Hard Drive Idea
One of our forum members has brought up the idea of solid-state memory for use as permanent storage. Granted, this is a very expensive idea, but sounds fast, nonetheless. Post you thoughts, as we'd love to hear what you have to say!

    Books…
As members of SharkyForums.com, it is relatively obvious that you like to read. What kind of books do you enjoy?
