    SB Live Platinum - Corrosion?!
    By andyz311 April 28, 2001, 02:39 AM

I noticed awhile back that my SB Live Platinum stopped working with my speakers (i.e. sound stopped coming through them when connected to the back). So, I didn't think anything of it and just used headphones in front (the live drive) and plugged speakers into the headphone jack when I needed em - worked fine. I recently transferred my SB Live Plat. to my new system and noticed some corrosion on the DIN in (the yellow input) - what the heck?! What could have happened here? Everything in my system works fine...except that no speakers will work with the card because of whatever problem had occurred.

Does anyone know what kind of manufacturers warranty runs on those cards and how I could get it replaced? I've probably had it for nearly 1 year. Live drive is fully functional - the mic port in back works fine, I thought the DIN worked fine (for external computer audio running to my TV, but it's corroded slightly?) Help me out guys.

I just had my whole SB Live rig replaced because the mic jack on the card was borked. Luckily, I was still under the 1 year mfg warranty umbrella.

If you are over 1 year, I think you are out of luck but try anyway. Hell, it took me over a month of email communications to get an RMA out of the SOBs. So, blame it all on them.
