    The stories behind the names...
By The Evil Dust Bunny May 01, 2001, 03:46 PM

I was and have been curious about why everyone chose the nicknames that they did? Also, tells us about your name and stuff. I know, this topic has most likely come up before, but now there are a lot more people and I'm curious!

    Mine:
I thought of "the Evil Dust Bunny" because I was bored and wanted a new name for my cstrike matches with my class mates. After long and hard thinking and many a night without sleep, it finally came to me, what would be more insulting to be killed by a dust bunny?

    About my online persona:
The Evil Dust Bunny terrorizes the souls of household cleaners everywhere! His only nemasis is "the God of Household Cleaners". He also has the uncanny ability to make people sneezes and cough within a ten meter radius He also has a strange hatred for feathers...

    So tells us about YOU...

    By Bateluer May 01, 2001, 03:52 PM

    Been done . . .

But Bateluer is a Bird of Prey from the Falcon family. They live below the Sahara in Africa.

    By AlphaZero May 01, 2001, 03:54 PM

There was another thread a while ago about the origins of our nicks.

Anyway, alphazero is one of the cheats in Descent I or II. As I have said, I can't remember what it does, and no cheats sites list this particular cheat code. However, I know for a fact that it was a cheat and I can't explain what happened to it. If anyone can back me up here, or even better, tell me what that cheat does, I would greatly appreciate it.

    By chickenlump2001 May 01, 2001, 03:55 PM

Chicken is a domesticated bird of the order Galliformes. They live in farms.

Valafar is a demon of Hell. The whole description is: Duke of Hell. On good terms with robbers, he has the head of a theif and the body of a lion. He is one of three demons in the service of Sargatanas, brigadier gereral. I needed an account name for D, so I thought I would choose a "themed" name. I got comfortable with it and am still using it.

    By Moridin May 01, 2001, 04:05 PM

Been done several times, but ...

I was re-reading Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series to be ready when the next book came out when I registered so I decided to use a name from the series. All the names of the "good guys" s****d so I picked one of the bad guys instead.

My other choice would have been Shaidar Haran. In the context of the series that translates into "shadows hand" while Moridin translates as "death".

    From the WOT FAQ

" It is fairly obvious from multiple references that Moridin is a reincarnated Forsaken. He makes many references to the Age of Legends as though he were there. He has personal knowledge of the other Forsaken. His sobriquet translates to 'Death.' "

Makes perfect sense now. I couldn't figure out the LPU.

    By BRB May 01, 2001, 05:50 PM

    Initials, BRB, Bobby Bowden.

Also, when the cartoon D&D was popular, the little kid was Bobby the Barbarian. Even though I've never played the game I was tagged with that nickname and it stuck.

By The Evil Dust Bunny May 01, 2001, 08:17 PM

Oh yeah, and the Evil Dust Bunny has a whole army of Lemmings, just thought I would throught that in...

***The lemmings move at my command***

    By Catscratch May 01, 2001, 08:26 PM

    I don't mind.

I'm a big fan of Wing Commander. In the game Wing Commander IV, a pilot had a callsign of Catscratch. The name sounded cool and it stuck.

I also like cats if that matters.

    long story short-

Mad at AIM, hit keyboard, this is what came from that. Been using it for years.

    By The_Raven May 02, 2001, 12:51 AM

The Raven is a joker, death, curious, and if you split its tounge can speek very clear. They are smart.

    By flammenwurfer May 02, 2001, 01:05 AM

Well, I went to Germany with my class two summers ago, and we got a kick out of saying obscene things in german while we were there, and acting like we didn't know what it meant. Well, my favorite saying was "Mein pimmeln ist ein flammenwurfer". Which means "My penis is a flamthrower", so I use flamthrower for all my nicks now.

Anyway my nick is Eman, uuhhmmmmm, lets see I have had it for around 5 years now, and have forgot what it ment. I think because my name is pronounced "En", I just took the E and added man.

    You talking about Garion?

He's okay compared to Cenedra and Eriond. Those two *really* piss me off.

(assuming that you're talkin to me. )

    By omni871 May 02, 2001, 11:57 AM

Well the username i use for this forum now is a combination of a few other handles i used in games. The number came from trying to pick out a name at yahoo or something and 871 was the next one. Omni comes from an old quake 2 handle i used on the zone: Omniscious.

The handle i use now for pretty much everything is: oneArmedman

I used it in quake 2 and I loved it when it said whoever was blown up by oneArmedman. I also like saying to everyone on a HL game: it wasnt me it was the onearmedman, o wait that is me.........doh.

I hated Ce'Nedra. Beldin was great though, as was Silk.

    By chickenlump2001 May 02, 2001, 02:42 PM

Yeah him. I didnt like Durnik either. He was too cheesy

Hmmm... thinking back, I don't think I ever liked the main character. Especially Rand... what a stupid guy... make me want to hit him really really hard. But then he'd vapourize me

    By BloodRed May 05, 2001, 11:46 PM

Well it all started back in the day....

I was on a bus going to a track meet in highschool and my girlfriend's cousin gave me a tape to listen to. I figured I'd be nice, so I listened to is. It was a Slayer tape, and I was hooked. So, my first handle years later was Death'sHead, after the Slayter song, but I after really thinking about it I didn't like the nazi overtone(study your history), so I changed it to BloodRed, after another Slayer song.
