How to get CDRwin working with Win2000 Pro?
    By Dragoson May 09, 2001, 03:21 AM

I just installed Windows 2000 Pro yesterday and then installed and loaded up Goldenhawks CDRWIN (Tried 3.8c and the new 4.0 beta) and it wont detect my CDRW.. MY CDRW is a Plextor 121032A. Each time I start up CDRWIN it displays this message:

Error: Unable to initialize the ASPI manager
ASPI support information was not found

Ayone know how to fix this so my CDRW drive will work with CDRWIn under Win 2000 Pro

Yeah I got that problem too before. You need to install an ASPI manager on your system before cdrwin will work. If you don't have an ASPI manager you can go to the goldenhawk website and they have a link to a free one. If not if you install easy cd creator that will also install an ASPI manager on your system.

I find that a lot of people don't know that they need an ASPI manager, is this something that should come across better in software installations?

Many of the larger burning apps come with an ASPI manager, but many do not. What do you think about this? How did you, if ever, handle this?
