  • We're back with another informative and fun edition of the weekly Forums Spotlight! This week in the Forums Spotlight we've highlighted discussions on Internet Explorer 6, Nvidia Drivers, 19-inch monitors, Corsair and speakers.

The Forums Spotlight is a highlight of just a few of the new topics posted in the SharkyForums, where over ten-thousand enthusiastic computer users post daily for help, to discuss the latest trends and products, or to just shoot the breeze in the Off Topic forum.

Each week in the Forums Spotlight, we take several of the most popular, insightful, or even controversial threads and present them to you for easy digestion. Feel free to add your own thoughts (subtract the profanity, please) and help us multiply the reader participation here at Sharky Extreme (and you thought math was tough...). We've added links on each spotlight page so you can easily add your own comments and contribute to the debate! If your repartee strikes us as useful, humorous, or otherwise entertaining, it stands the distinct possibility of being featured next week.

    Without further ado...

General Software, Applications and Drivers: Help!! Can't read CD anymore
What do you do when your plug & play device is not being detected right? Tengue17 has this exact problem and cannot seem to find the problem, having installed updated drivers and an aspi manager under Windows 2000. Can you help him out?

General Software, Applications and Drivers: Best drivers for Nvidia GeForce's?
Ever wondered which of the numerous Nvidia drivers out there to go with? Some of the Sharky faithful have their opinions on the matter. Driver version 6.31 or 12.00?!

General Hardware: Which 19" monitor to get that's less than $325?
Whoever said "size doesn't matter" definitely wasn't talking about computer displays. But getting a large enough display to see the world at 1600x1200 often comes at a high price. Posting his question in the General Hardware forum, Schmitty is looking to have the best of both worlds and needs help finding a good 19" monitor that won't cost him an arm and a leg. Which do you recommend?

General Hardware: Corsair better then Micron?
Motor oil might be motor oil, but RAM isn't RAM... especially not for an overclocker. That must be why Death_Cheese is asking the folks at SharkyForums for help deciding between Corsair and Micron for his impending memory purchase. Predictably, though, the recommendations are coming in for more brands than just those two. So which is your favorite?

General Software, Applications, and Drivers: Internet Explorer 6
If it ain't broke, should you be trying harder? matt_h is wondering if he should upgrade from MSIE 5.5 to the latest and greatest (well, the latest anyway...) version of the browser. Is MSIE 6 ready for primetime or should matt_h hold off for a while?

Audio/Sound: Creative, Klipsch or Midland? Please help!
Which speakers do you like best? DVD-Man is looking to buy new speakers for his gaming rig and is wondering which to go with. But asking people which speakers are best can be like asking whether chocolate or vanilla ice cream is best. If you have any experience with any of these companies' speakers, or if you'd just like to see what other peoples' experiences have been, check out this thread in the Audio/Sound forum.

Life would be great if... there was some random thread that didn't really have a point.
awa64 wishes just this for the forums, or perhaps just the LWBGI forum in particular. As it seems, his thread has developed just into that, although one could argue that it makes for some funny reading here and there...
