We're back with another informative and fun edition of the weekly Forums Spotlight! This week in the Forums Spotlight we've highlighted discussions on the high price of buying a computer, upgrading from Windows ME to Windows 2000, and tweaking/overclocking GTS video boards.
The Forums Spotlight is a highlight of just a few of the new topics posted in the SharkyForums, where over ten-thousand enthusiastic computer users post daily for help, to discuss the latest trends and products, or to just shoot the breeze in the Off Topic forum.
Each week in the Forums Spotlight, we take several of the most popular, insightful, or even controversial threads and present them to you for easy digestion. Feel free to add your own thoughts (subtract the profanity, please) and help us multiply the reader participation here at Sharky Extreme (and you thought math was tough...). We've added links on each spotlight page so you can easily add your own comments and contribute to the debate! If your repartee strikes us as useful, humorous, or otherwise entertaining, it stands the distinct possibility of being featured next week.
Without further ado...

General Hardware: How the heck do I afford a new computer!?
Sign away a first-born child and a pint of blood? Surely, there must be an easier way. Skeelo needs to upgrade to a new system so that he can get some work done, but can't afford to shell out $1000 to do so. Is it possible to get a decent machine for just a few hundred dollars, or is he going to find out that "you get what you pay for?" Find out what others think, and offer your own opinions, in the General Hardware forum.
General Hardware: DVD drive recomendations
Not all drives were created equal, so which DVD-ROM drive should dred010 be looking to add to his system? With newer, faster drives coming out everyday from all sorts of manufacturers, despite the fact that we've yet to see much in the way of actual DVD software, it's become something of a crapshoot to pick one out. Which do you recommend he go with?
Operating Systems: WinME to 2000- worth 200 bucks?
Just how much do you think it's worth to upgrade operating systems? Ryoken is unhappy with the performance his high-end system is getting out of Windows ME, and he's trying to figure out if the upgrade is worth the cost. Would you stick with ME, upgrade to 2000, or hold out for XP? Head on over to this thread in the Operating Systems forum and let us know what you think.
Motherboards: Best new DDR board? There's so many!!!!!
Ok, so you've decided you want to go with a motherboard that lets you make use of DDR SDRAM, having found you could do so for not much more than regular SDRAM prices... but which do you choose? J2D2 is planning to build himself an AMD 1.33 system and is trying to decide which motherboard he should go with. Which do you recommend?
Video Cards: What's the best tweak utility for Nvidia cards running Det. Drivers?
If it ain't broke, should you be trying harder? matt_h is wondering if he should upgrade from MSIE 5.5 to the latest and greatest (well, the latest anyway...) version of the browser. Is MSIE 6 ready for primetime or should matt_h hold off for a while?
General Games: Why does the PS2 cost so much?
Is $300 for a console plus about $50 for each game too rich for your blood? Duo seems to think so, and he is wondering why it costs so much to get a PS2. But the X-box will come in at the same price-point, and the Gamecube will cost $199 with no DVD movie capabilities, just as the Dreamcast did. So is the cost really that unusual?
