    It's the best! I am using 4.12 because it never times out I like it so much I may actually buy a newer version someday - just not right now

    $ .02

    I'm running 6.02. Lots-a new and improved stuff. I think there's a new version out, but I haven't had time to get it yet.

    Paintshop is not as good. It is very very limited compared to adobe or corel. But I must say it's much easier to use.

    I'm not only looking at capabilities Ymaster, but price/perfomance.
    If I can do the same thing in PSP and if it takes me a bit longer, I certainly think it's worth the price difference.
    Adobe is too propreitary, too steep of a learning curve. Overcomplicated.

    As for price..I would never buy it...cough!..warez..cough!

    If you're an average user by all means steer clear of Adobe and head straight for Paint Shop Pro. Its much more simplistic, and fun, but for a real graphix its a joke when compared to Photoshop. Its all in what you need.

    Any halfway-serious graphic artist/designer uses Photoshop and other Adobe programs. For an average Joe, yes, PSP is sufficient. But Photoshop can do some pretty amazing things if you take the time to learn it. That, and the "Save for Web" feature is worth the price of the program alone.

    I agree. PSP doesn't have as steep a learning curve as PhotoShop, but then again, it isn't as powerful.

    I've never used PSP but I can say that I live and die by Photoshop. Sure it's expensive warez but it is robust and integrates seemlessly into other Adobe progs. Plus, all of the interfaces are similar so it's easier to get used to using each prog.

    I started using PSP in 1994 and haven't used anything but since then. Jasc products are excellent and you totally get your money's worth. In the latest version, you can do a lot (if not all) of what can be done with Photoshop, and the price is MUCH nicer!

    Well, I do have psp..I bought it a long time ago. But the adobe I have is a copy from work...I started on psp and loved it. But my brother the big time graphics artist always stund me with his work in adobe and corel. So after pickup the basics in psp I tried adobe. It tolk along time to learn adobe. But the power of it is just unmatched...The adobe 6.0 is even better than 5.5...

    By the_writer921 October 12, 2000, 03:54 AM

    i have adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Corel Draw 9.0 - i have been using Corel for a while now, and i personally like it better at this moment - probably because i know it better. Photoshop is not as easy for me, but i dont play on it as much yet. i am still learning both, so of course i am nowhere near the levels of expertece i would like to be...but i can do an OK pic...

    I am using PSP 7 and I have found it is incredibly powerful, getting into the realm of vector graphics. It is a small install compared to photoshop and the plugins it has are simply incredible. A very nice piece of work. Photoshop is just too expensive for most users. If you got the budget, fine...but PSP 7 does kick ass....very cool program....
