    Which processor should I buy...
    By ChencChris July 22, 2001, 05:27 PM

I've bought many processors in the past (well, past = 2 months). I've bought from:

    OCZ:
1.3GHz AXIA B Core (still alive)
    1.33GHZ AYHJA C Core (fried)
    1480MHz - 1600MHz OC'ed (came defective)

    Newegg:
    Duron 750MHz (sold)

    Bestbyte:
    1.4GHz AYHJA Week 24 C Core

However, none of these chips gave me satisfactory results. The 1.3GHz AXIA topped out @ 1.45MHz, and it's still unstable even @ max voltage. 1.33GHz AYHJA refuses to work above 1.4GHz, and needs to bump the voltage to 1.82v so it would work at that speed. The 1480MHz - 1600MHz turned out to be a 1GHz AVIA-R C. However, it came defective, so no go. My current chip, the 1.4GHz AYHJA, won't work above 1.47GHz. So I'm now desperate searching for a oc'able chip! Should I look into 1GHz?

    By redwing11 July 22, 2001, 09:40 PM

a 1 ghz or a 1.2 maybe...when OCing, nothing is guaranteed, but you seem to have pretty bad luck with the CPU's you got.

    By krazie662 July 22, 2001, 11:31 PM

    1.2 Axia-R?

    By Ymaster July 22, 2001, 11:39 PM

Just STOP! The current AMD t-bird is getting to the end of it's ropes. So just take a brake from the Overlclocking arena untill they update the cores with .13

    By Ymaster July 22, 2001, 11:40 PM

I bet it's not the CPU thats getting you down really. Try something else like faster harddrives and ram.

Are you madd?? stop the nonsense. Why buying so many cpu's to overclock. Like if you want fast just buy the fastest and dont overclock. Quite frankly i dont see the difference when i run my cpu at 800 mhz or a 933 mhz or at 975 mhz.

    Its just crazy.

How much money are you gonna spend on this sport?

I know your problem. I suffer from it too

but common how many cpu's ?

    take a break.

I'm starting to think it's the mobo...listen to this:
I can hit 1.47GHz w/o raising the voltage a bit, but I cannot hit 1.48GHz whatsoever. Since I have a 650W PSU, it can't be the PSU. So I'm starting to suspect it's the mobo. Since I'm in Taiwan right now for vacation, I might buy Iwill's KK266-R. Good idea?

    My board is ABit's KT7A-R.

Hell yea dude if it's cheap get one!!

I know my freind has a problem with his mobo I think. It's an MSI K7T-R Turbo and doesn't like to o/c what-so-ever. He has a 1ghz 266 AXIA and it won't go past 1030mhz!! Come on no way in hell your gonna tell me that's the max o/c for that sucker!

Ever stop to think that the PSU might be causing a problem? Yea, that's real powerful, but maybe it's too much. I've never seen anyone use one putting out that much power before and I'm sure your system isn't using half of it. Maybe that's a problem...

Highly, highly doubtful and can I say highly doubtful again, seriously dude.

Sounds like a mobo problem..Hell I've seen 250w psu work with 1.5ghz Tbirds..Never such a thing that too much power can be bad.

Just got an AYHJA 1.33 today..it was a "9" supposedly bad OCers..it'll do 1550 stable..running it at 1530...not as good as my old AXIA 1.33@1.6...but it's not bad for my second rig

What application/game are you running that you are going to see a difference between 1400MHz and 1600MHz? Or is this just for bragging rights? If it's just for bragging rights, seems pretty silly to me. 1400MHz is incredibly fast.

I can't speak for everyone, but a lot of ppl like to OC not only for speed increases, but for the hobby as well. It is kind of like a sport persay..

    By Bolweval July 25, 2001, 01:13 AM

True, good point, I guess I'm just an old square. I usually upgrade when I get a program or game that doesn't run as fast as I'd like. Don't think I would ever upgrade for a hardware forum, but that's just me.

    ROCK ON CHRIS!!!! ; )

    thanks !!

Is there anyone who are using an MSi K7T-r turbo and running o/c stable? Do someone know if it's a mobo that is'nt o/c friendly?

I've got one, have'nt tried it yet so i thought i ask before i put it together :-)

I had two of them when they first came out. They Oced fairly well for me, but not the best I've had to date. Here's an example. I've got a 1.33 T-Bird. On one of the MSI boards I got 1507 out of it. On the other one I got 1466 out of it. That same chip run on my A7V133 I got 1600 and on my Epox 8K7a I got 1623.
The MSI's ran the chip very stable at those speeds, but I got a much higher OC out of the other boards

    By Blåbär July 25, 2001, 08:21 AM

So you mean: If i'm lucky i may run my 1.33 as far as 1.5 and it does'nt have as much to do with the cpu?

By the way... Have someone tried to put an extra fan on top of the original one? (i've got an extra Delta Black Label)

They frequently sell out of the 1g "c" chips so that insures the "freshest" batches. That said there have been reports of 1g AYHJA's turning up so I'd be willing to bet(have no solid proof, mind you) that there's a good chance that is what newegg is selling now. Just my 2 cents.
