There seem to be so many coming out soon and on its way to us this year. Which one are you most exicted about and which one are you going to enter the realm of the mass multiplayer role playing game for sure?

Well Horizons sound to be the best so far.. but like the rest of the MMORPG i'll be a while till they come out but this game is very cool (on paper that is) and here's why.1) so far the screen shots are the best i have seen in MMORPG. 2) more races then any MMORPG (i could be wrong on this). Anything from human to dragon to demon to angel. 3) you can build home, castle, or rent an appartment in the city if you like. 4) rideable animals. (and yes if you are a dragon (a big one) you can give your friend a ride) 5) some race can fly (like dragons and angel and more) 6) Race & Blood Wars (some races are at war with each other, permanently. These are called blood wars.) i can list on and on but you just have to go and read about it for yourself ohh nad one more thing... i think this project is privetly funded so you will less likey see it get cancel like the rest.. (eg: Dawn)

From reading Your horizon specs it sounds pretty impressive on paper for sure. I will look out for it and hope other will too. However, have to see the game out before jumping on anything these days. I have had my woes of anticipating games and get disappointed too often.

There are just a few problems with Horizons that worry me about the quality and playability of this product. 1. Budget - They don't have anywhere near the bugdet of a game like SWG or Planetside. 2. Graphics - Sure they look nice now, but how well will they look in a year once the game is closer to release. 3. Experience - This is their first MMORPG. Show me any company that made a good start on MMORPG's. All of them suffered horribly for the first few months after release. IMO its not features and quantity that make a good ORPG. Its the gameplay and feel of the game. Its the player interaction and conflict. Asheron's Call had so much right about it but so many people overlooked it because they are blinded by eye candy and features. Here is my opinion about the upcoming MMORPG's. Anarchy Online - Generally an EQ clone. Currently plagued by stability and gameplay problems. These might be resolved, but it still won't make it a "fun" game. Shadowbane - Lots of original and good ideas. I'm sure it will have lots of problems during launch. I think the game's success will be 100% dependent on how fun and interesting the player interaction will be. I know that is the emphasis of the game, but it won't be easy to do it right. The low budget of this game might make it feel a little impersonal and boring to play. Star Wars Galaxies - Huge budget and lots of experience. This will be the most popular online game ever made. Launch will go somewhat smoothly. The gameplay will be fun and interesting, but there will still be too many time sinks. Asheron's Call 2 - This will probably be another big sleeper like the first AC. It doesn't have the well known aspects of high fantasy or a well known world like Star Wars, but I bet the gameplay will be incredible. Its Turbine's second MMORPG and that design team is definitely the best I've seen.

Not interested in anything unless it's made by Blizzard, I hope Blizzard makes a MMORPG, they are not making SC2 and are planning a NEW PROJECT announcement in September at ECTS, let's hope it's a free MMORPG, I hate monthy payments.

I was debating between either gettting that or UO. Ive never seen AC played and I know I like UO so I may just go with that... I dont know...

Surprising, you all left out the one MMORPG that will be dominating the rest. Neverwinter Nights, it will reign supreme. No other game will be able to come close to it.

EQ expansion...should be amazing. but then again, a new game altogether like star trek might be a nice change of pace and level the playing field for us part timers.s_r

I'm not sure if you knew that or not, but it needed a little clarification. The expansion looks good and will be fun, but AC2 is a whole new game engine and from what I've heard its incredible. I tried to get back into UO again recently. I really miss that game. I still think that my guild, The False Dragons Alliance, had the best dang online community there ever was. Going back just wasn't the same though. The pacing was slow, the people were anti-social or just plain rude, and 99% of my friends were gone. I got to see the new game engine though and was a bit dissapointed. The people seemed more interested in maxing out their character(any way possible) and fighting anyone than they were in why they wanted to fight someone or the way they were supposed to develop their character.
