x-box for me, to deterr me from buying a geforce 3 my brother recently bought a ps2 which is pretty much a mistake in my mind, it just lacks too many things, a few games may justify having it, but thats it. gamecube is good also but it seems to only be improving all its old stuff not much new.

PS2 is the shiznit.. i dunno what you guys are talking about... Metal Gear SOlid 2 got off with best trailer honors at TGS, FFX is freaking unbelievable, GT3 was a smash hit.. Devil May cry coming soon, Klonoa kicks mario bros ass. Not to mention SOul Reaver 2, Silent Hill 2, and even a Baldurs Gate... Only thing i like in gamecube so far is Metroid Prime (i love metroid) and Smash Bros 2... XBOX has nothing going for it... great hardware is nothing without good games.

If I decide to get one, it will be the X-Box, because it looks like it's got the most interesting games (Halo, Unreal Championship). And they've got a lot of good developers to produce games for it.

The only games that spark my interest in XBox are the two Nascar games. I might wait and see if Panasonic releases their version of the GCube. I saw it in some magazine. It is supposed to have a DVD player and might be a little better hard ware wise. Not sure.

Definately PS2. Soul Reaver 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2 are the big attractions there, but having heard about Metroid Prime, I dunno. The PS2 has got the advantage of being able to play all the original PS games. (I went Nintendo all the way till N64 vs PS and regretted that purchase).

I hate MS's business practicies: No X-Box for Galen! I hate Sony's business practicies: No PS2 for Galen! Nintendo killed Sega : I guess I'll get a Gamecube if my wife wants one... Or if Sega shows off their programming skills and Nintendo finally gets a decent game on one of their systems.

I spend waaaayyyy too much $$$ on consoles and video games!I have a working: Atari with about 65 games Nintendo with at least 250 games Super Nintendo - dont even remember! Sega Genesis - 50 Game Boy Original - 30 Game Gear - 20 and a few others I forgot about. I even stood outside in the cold winter October 26 with nothing but a muscle shirt on, jeans, and my wallet for the ps2. I think I go a little overboard...........

XBOX is graphically superior to anything Gamecube or PS2 can do. At least Nintendo acknowledges that. Thats why it will be cheaper, they are capitalising on their current customerbase for their success and the kiddie games market. As for PS2, well ho-hum, I feel sorry that Microsoft decided to step on their territory. Now all you PS2 ppl will feel the wrath of thy nerde one. Xbox 2x Geforce 3 chipsets running concurrently vs PS2 running emotion chip? WTF is that from Datas neural net? Damn. Dead or Alive 3 all the way baby. Check out, the trailers at xbox.ign.com and be amazed.

quote:XBOX is graphically superior to anything Gamecube or PS2 can do.Nope, in fact, gamecube might have the edge over xbox in graphics in certain games, since it has better fillrate, better multi texturing and better per pixel effects. quote:At least Nintendo acknowledges that. Thats why it will be cheaper uh? cheap means not powerfull? Bwahahaha. They acknoledge there there's no DVD, no modem included and no useless HD with it, but that doesnt mean much for consoles either way, especially since gamecube has a REAL buffer, no use for an HD other than that cheap mp3 gimmick quote:they are capitalising on their current customerbase for their success and the kiddie games market. And whats wrong with that? at least they have a guarantee to have 45% of the market and no competition to stop them, thats more than what microsoft could dream of. Add to the fact that most hardcore nintendo fans are over 20 and made out 50% of the n64 demographic of of adults, and gamecube will be BIG, no matter how blind you are you cant really deny it. Its gonna be like SNES, EAD produce is usual japanese quirky games while 3rd parties and 2nd parties will handle the rest. quote:As for PS2, well ho-hum, I feel sorry that Microsoft decided to step on their territory. Now all you PS2 ppl will feel the wrath of thy nerde one. Yes they must feel sorry to get all the games before microsoft and get killers like xenosaga, mgs2, dmc, gt3, ffx, gta3 etc etc quote:Xbox 2x Geforce 3 chipsets running concurrently vs PS2 running emotion chip? WTF is that from Datas neural net? Damn. Your knowledge of hardware shines here, since you cant even tell that ee is a cpu when nv2a is a gpu you dork. quote:Dead or Alive 3 all the way baby DOA2 with nicer backgrounds, no thanks. Ok galen the edgewood, I'll say this, either you were living in a paralel world or you heard alot of misleading information. quote:Basically, Nintendo's games were inferior to Sega's games (IMO), but there were more of them, so people went with Nintendo. So, Nintendo going for more, rather than good, basically pushed Sega into a very small market. Thats probably the most laughable comment i've seen in ages. I dont know what generation you're talking about but nintendo was always a favorite for gamers, nintendo had kickass and known franchises while sega had what, sonic? woo.. If you prefer sega games as a choice of TASTE, then dont bring nintendo and false claims in your argument, simply say i prefer sega games, but saying nintendo went for quantity over quality is very.......stupid. quote:So basically, what I meant by that statement is that Nintendo's systems won out over Sega's (even though they shouldn't have...), and there fore, Nintendo killed Sega. Of course, Sony did put the final nails into the coffin for Sega's hardware business... Thats where i think you dont know what you're talking about. I'll state the history facts and it will clear it up. Nintendo entered the business with the nintendo entertainment system, they built franchises that gamers loved and had a year ahead of sega. Sega's master system had better hardware but their games just didnt compare to NES, they had fewer and usually were pretty crappy. About 90% of the gamers went to NES, cause it made the biggest boom on the industry since it was first after atari's failure. Mario immediatly became BIG and word of mouth simply outclassed sega. Now the 16bit gen comes. Sega has a small advantage over nintendo cause it was out first. Sega of america is spending BUTTLOADs of cash in marketing, enough that the japanese division were calling him crazy and almost fired him. But it worked well, genesis was doing better than snes for nearly 3 generations of softwares, it had more hardware units than snes and it was pretty close in software sales. But near the end, nintendo beat sega by a small margin, when mario kart, chrono trigger, fzero, super metroid, smb2, final fantasy, secret of mana. donkey kong country came out to the shelves, there was NOTHING sega could of done against it. But hey, they were still damn close and its sega's golden age, they never got any bigger than with the genesis after this. Now, the mistakes comes in and i think thats where you confuse your history. First, sega spent nearly ALL their money in marketing during the genesis era, i dont remember's SOA's president name but lets just say that the japanese division was NOT happy with him. Sega tried to outdid snes by making the 32x, then the sega CD, and some crappy disc system that i cant remember the name.. Anyway, it was big mistakes, they should of stick with genesis and profit the most out of it rather than spending money on stupid add on gimmicks that nearly had no marketing behind them. Thats sega's second mistake (after spending too much on marketing) Third mistake is very very simple. Sega had the hardware for saturn ready just a few months before launch. At that time, nintendo was working closely with sony to develop snes CD. Nintendo cancelled the project due to major failures of consoles with CDs (phillip cd-i, 3d0, pce) and told sony to **** off. Sony keeps the technology and decide to enter the business. Sega had NO idea what sony or nintendo was doing behind their research and development labs, when sony unveilled psx, sega basicly crapped their pants. Their saturn was a 2d monster and had very very poor 3d performances while psx was the other way around, gamers WANTED 3d. In a desperate move, sega changed saturn's hardware at the last minute so it can be capable of 3d, they thought it was a smart move at first since they were very afraid of psx and they knew that their 2d consoles would of got crushed by sony. But with little time for research, sega basicly screwed up saturn's architecture, it was NOT meant for 3d and by slapping a second cpu and Vu, it became a nightmare for developers. So developers moved to sony, with a very open library and C+ coding which is very simple next to assembly coding that saturn required. Thats sega's third mistake, and a major one since they will miss the entire 32bit gen and lose a load of money. Ultra64 isnt even out yet, in fact nobody knows what it will be, they just know it will be 64bit and has the potential to kill sony with little troubles. But no, nintendo isnt perfect and they made a few mistakes also. Sticking to cartridges and memory bottlenecks along with assembly coding drove the dream team away from nintendo to sony. We know the rest, sony never expected to even have that much luck, but they arent stupid, they take advantage of its competitor mistakes and simply DOMINATE the 32bit gen. N64 survived cause of 3 things. 1) Rare 2) Mario/zelda and other MAJOR franchises 3) pokemon If nintendo wouldnt of had any of those 3, it would of sunk down faster than saturn did. On the other hand, if it would of went with CD format rather than cartridge, i doubt you would even see a playstation2 today, they would of kept the dream team and all the major developers, psx would of went down along with saturn. But it didnt happen, so lets move on. Dreamcast, i dont see how nintendo could ever of hurt dreamcast this generation since gamecube is not even out nor did nintendo ever said shit about dreamcast. Sony on the other hand, promised a second playstation that would have all the psx favorite franchises like MGS and would promise a console much faster and better than dreamcast. Most gamers then hold off buying dreamcast to wait for ps2. Sad since DC was much better in both software and had enough hardware power to compete this whole generation, but hype killed dreamcast. Bottom line is that Its a mix of sega's mistakes and sony that killed them, nintendo has nothing to do with it, heck, sega's favorite company IS nintendo, they are like brothers almost, both had the same goal, both had the same philosophy, they are almost identical. Difference is that nintendo has GOOD business men, they know what decisions to make to be profitable, sega on the other hand, had a bunch of monkeys taking decisions at japan, they were excellent programmers and game developers, probably some of the best on earth, but their top executives were just dumb. Harsh but its the truth. Now ask your pardon to nintendo before yamauchi comes to rip your head off and hang it above NCL's offices

Let's just say that XBOX will be around so get used to it. Love it or hate it, it really doesn't matter and makes no difference to Microsofts budget. Which is why I see Sony entering a precarious position. It may not be apparent for several years, since most console wars are waged for long periods of time, until one pulls out after conceding defeat after receiving meagre earnings for years. Survival is not always based on earnings. And in Microsofts case they are willing to lose out for the first few years just to break the market. But once this is realised it is near impossible to topple a large company like Microsoft, even for Sony. It is interesting how you proclaim your vast knowledge by making your own interpretations of the facts. However I am not fussed over this. hahaha!Illogical and arrogant, so this makes you humble and logical.... YEAH RIGHT. Dont make me laugh. You seem to be the one proclaiming your vast knowledge, and trying to be the all-knowing all-seeing expert. Man listen to yourself. No one person can truly say who will win, It may be XBOX or Sony or Nintendo. I just seem to think its going to be XBOX. And in my humble opinion that seems logical to everyone else I have spoken to, M$ has all the factors necessary for success. Sony already looks dated and even one hardcore PS2 fan i know conceded that GeForce3 running 3Dmark2001 demo already looks twice as good as PS2. So if XBOX uses 2 of nvidias chipsets you do the maths, ill just look at the trailers to satisfy my curiousity. You can wallow in denial till hell freezes.

Sol, man you must be a genious then huh? Its funny when ppl think that because Sony has been so dominant that they cannot be toppled. Look at Apple, it took years and years but now they are a shadow of their former self. And ironically if it wasnt for Microsoft where would they be now? Sure its too early to tell which way this whole thing will go but one thing Microsoft has is plenty of dough, and more than 1/2 trillion net worth to be exact. Even after all the lawsuits and the million dollar a day payouts they still have enough moola to burn. Hell Bill Gates alone could probly finance it hypothertically speaking .But its gonna be a 3 horse race. But for how long is anyones guess.
