  • Comdex is over, the Pentium 4 has launched, and we are still trying to catch our breath. Of course, the favorite topic of discussion in the forums this week is the Pentium 4 and how it compares to what is already available on the market. While the launch of the Pentium 4 was under-whelming, the potential of the NetBurst micro-architecture definitely shows potential. What do you think? Do you wish our Comdex coverage included a Las Vegas "entertainment" wrap-up? Make your voice heard on the forums, because, like vegemite, it puts a rose on every cheek.

Each week we take several of the most popular/insightful/controversial threads and present them to you for easy digestion. Feel free to add your own thoughts (subtract the profanity, please) and help us multiply the reader participation here at Sharky Extreme (and you thought math was tough…). We've added links on each spotlight page so you can easily add your own comments and contribute to the debate! If your repartee strikes us as useful, humorous, or otherwise entertaining, it stands the distinct possibility of being featured next week. Without further ado…

    Netscape 6 Is Here
Although I haven't used Netscape since Internet Explorer 4, it seems as though many people are having good luck with Netscape 6. It supports skins and themes, but also appears to still have several bugs. Let's hear your experiences with NS6.

    Pentium 4 Discussion - Round 2
Arcadian is at it again with Round 2 of his Pentium 4 discussion. Now that the benchmarks and prices have been unveiled, what is the general consensus? Right now it seems as though the P4 doesn't offer a high enough price/performance ratio to justify an upgrade, but if you were on the market for a brand new box, it would be worth consideration.

Will SE Be Reviewing The All In Wonder In A Home-Theater Environment?
Ask and you shall receive. We just received our retail All In Wonder RADEON (a review-worthy board) and are about ready to review it. If there is interest in seeing this card reviewed in a home-theater environment, drop me an email with suggestions for home-theater "benchmarks."

    New Indexes Added
Again, ask and you shall receive. We have implemented an indexing system for those lengthy reviews. Like it? Don't like it? You know what I'm about to say, don't you? Let us know!

Sharky's Value Video Card Round Up & Diamond Viper II
The question has arisen as to why we did not include the Savage 2000 in our value round up. Succinctly, because we would not want to recommend a card that is no longer supported by a company that no longer exists. The Savage 2000 was a questionable product when we reviewed it, and has improved a little since then, leaving it a questionable product. If you disagree, I'd love to hear why in the forum.

    Dogs Or Cats
The topic speaks for itself. Here's one vote for dogs - after the same cat has put enough prints on the hood of my car, I think I am about through with tolerating cats.
