  • Sharky Extreme: Might we see a sequel to Urban Chaos or does that really depend on sales figures and the scope for doing more with the genre?

Fin Mc Gechie: We're currently talking about Urban Chaos 2. The genre which is Urban Chaos has massive scope to expand and exploit its potential. We've managed to lay a great foundation to build on and with the next Gen consoles coming in, the possibilities of the next chapter of Urban Chaos raising its head is good to middling.

Sharky Extreme: Mucky Foot is one of many Bullfrog splinter developers such as Lionhead, Elixir and Lost Toys. What do you think of what you've seen so far of the games these other companies are developing?

Fin Mc Gechie: I can only comment on what I've seen and what I know. Lost Toys' game I'm looking forward to immensely I've had the privilege of having a play around with it and I can't wait. Lionhead has a lot of very talented people that I've had the pleasure of working with so in hand with what I've seen and the money behind them I'm sure it'll be massive...Elixir I've seen as much as anyone else and so I can only comment on the screenshots available. It looks interesting. I'd like to see something moving first and some interaction before I pass judgement.

Sharky Extreme: With the advent of titles in 3D with budgets of millions it is becoming harder to break into the development industry and in particular to start a new games company without serious backing. How do you see new firms and individual developers making it in the future and is there any advice you'd give such people based on your experience?

Fin Mc Gechie: Basically, yes, it is becoming more and more of a nightmare to start up an independent development house. You basically can't set up in this industry with some backing unless of course you're a millionaire and we're not. We had to gamble our careers and houses on a dream of doing what we're doing now if it failed we would have lost everything but luckily and with a lot of hard work we're still growing in strength but the hard work won't be over for a long time yet. Over the years we felt that everything was stacked against us and seems that's the case for all small business` no matter what they specialise in. My only advice is as long as you believe that you will see it through 'til the end then go for it. Life is too short to watch it pass you by but it is a lot of hard work and hard times.
