As a long time fan of “La Femme Nikita” types of TV shows, since the first press release hit the wire on IO Interactive/ Eidos’ Hitman: Codename 47 title, I’ve been excited about this game. Hitman promises to bring something new to gamers. From what I’ve learned so far about this title, if you had to compare it to another game, Thief II: The metal Age would be what I would use for comparison (due to you having to use brains and not just a weapon), but Hitman seems to be so much more than that!
IO Interactive was established in September 1998 as a joint venture between Nordisk Film & TV A/S and game developer Reto-Moto. IO focuses on original character based 3D games developed with proprietary technologies. Recently I had the opportunity to speak with IO Interactive’s Jens Peter Kurup, who is one of the Animators currently working on Hitman: Codename 47.
Before joining IO Interactive and the Hitman team, Jens Peter Kurup worked in film, postproduction and commercials. Hitman: Codename 47 is the first team project at IO Interactive (to be published by Eidos Interactive), and if Hitman delivers as promised, it is sure to send IO Interactive into the game developing biz with a bang!
SharkyExtreme: Can you tell us a bit about Denmark-based IO Interactive?
Jens Peter Kurup: We're 23 guys and a few girls slaving our entire life away to bring you Hitman. We have other projects coming up, but right now Hitman has our max attention. A lot of the guys have been working in the game business for a long time, but the team also has some new and talented faces. This gives us an opportunity to combine the deep knowledge of game developing with the fresh input from filmmakers and the like. IO Interactive actively seeks the most talented College students to work at the studio.
