  • The Star Trek Voyager universe is about to get a whole lot more exciting as it enters the realm of First Person Shooter gaming. Using the Quake III: Arena game engine, Raven Software is presently working on Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force. Elite Force will put players up against the nasty Borg and some aliens we Star Trek fans haven't even seen before! Today we talk with Raven Software's Project Administrator, Kenn Hoekstra to get some in-depth information on this coming soon Voyager title.

Sharky Extreme: What is your role in the development of Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force?

Kenn Hoekstra: I am serving as the Project Administrator for the team in a somewhat lessened role from what I was doing on Soldier of Fortune. I'm doing a lot of "odds and ends" work including coordination with Activision. I guess you could say I'm in a true "support" role. If they ask me to do something, I'm here to do it.

Sharky Extreme: Presently, where in the development cycle is Elite Force?

Kenn Hoekstra: Elite Force is in an Alpha state and the team is pushing towards beta. We still have some obstacles to overcome, the primary one being time, but things are coming together nicely. The last month in particular has seen the game develop in leaps and bounds.

Sharky Extreme: As both a Star Trek universe fan and a gamer, I'd have to say so far I've been rather disappointed by the current ST titles available. Will this game be true to the ST universe we all know and love?

Kenn Hoekstra : It's impossible to make everyone happy 100% of the time, but we're doing our best to be as true to the license, the series and the fans as we possibly can. Paramount is with us every step of the way and that's a big help.
