To that end, Chaotic Games have chosen the Genesis3D engine to power RoD, but Hudson & Co. have gone to great lengths to build on and improve the stock library of code. "We are also now using a full skeletal animation system", says Hudson, "which should help increase the fluidity and realism of our enemies and characters". In addition, Chaotic have tweaked the Genesis3D engine to make incorporating DirectSound3D, Creative's EAX, Intel's SSE and other game oriented technologies a breeze. Gamers adept at creating their own mods should also have no problem doing so on Chaotic's adaptation of the Genesis3D engine.

And what about the graphics? While their primary focus remains on the storyline and character development, Chaotic will, of course, implement the latest snazzy bells and whistles that serve to do nothing but please the eye and tingle the brain. From the screenshots below, you can already make out solid use of colored lighting and shadowing effects.

Hudson promises that Raven of Darkness should be on your plates before this year's Thanksgiving turkey. Until then, we'll keep you informed with all the latest development updates.
