Set in the 21st century (here we go folks!), the Earth has become an inhospitable place (blame it on those Eastern European cars we say!), thus humans have colonized another solar system. But new-found happiness and peace is short lived as three key corporate giant's struggle for monetary power via force. This is where you the player come in. You play the part of a member of a ruthless guerrilla (not the hairy sort) team for hire. However, the plot then thickens as you the hired, then decide to turn upon your employers. Yes what we have here is another recipe for a 3D first person shooter. The name is Hired Guns.

With the likes of Half-Life and Sin and Shogo all out, we're already in 3D first person shooter heaven. So can it get any better? We don't know but Pysgonsis certainly seems to think so with their Unreal engine (complete with colored lighting et .al) based Hired Guns (a remake of the 1993 Amiga game). As per Unreal, the game will ship with both D3D and Glide versions, which will be coded by developers Devil's Thumb Entertainment.

The game will sport some 60-plus levels, with multiplayer support over the Internet and across LANs. In addition, Hired Guns attempts something slightly different in terms of multiplayer. A four-way split screen option will be available allowing for cooperative and/or deathmatch play. Will it work? Well you'll just have to wait and see when the game is due for release in Q2 1999. Until then here are a few new screen shots to keep you going.
