  • Yeah, we know. No one’s going to beat Papyrus at its own game. But that’s not what NASCAR Heat tries to do. Definitely geared to casual audiences, Heat won’t expect the player to already be a NASCAR expert, nor will it subject them to the brutal AI of the Papyrus games. Instead, Heat’s normal mode uses an adaptive AI that speeds up when it’s behind the player, and limits itself when ahead. This may not seem realistic, but it keeps the player in the pack and thus, always amid the most exciting parts of NASCAR racing. Hasbro says, “Imagine being in the middle of a 200mph traffic jam.”

Players interested in learning more about NASCAR can try the Beat the Heat mode, where they get exposure to specific real-life scenarios and must drive through them. They can also play the Race the Pros mode, where they compete against real times of real NASCAR legends. If the players desire, they can switch to expert mode for more challenge, but Heat is really designed to indulge the fantasy of being a NASCAR racer.
