Ever since Ion Storm kicked off their operation, the big 'D' has been on just about everyones lips. Most of you will already know the drill please but for those that don't- here's a tiny little reminder. John Romero and pals licensed id Software's Quake 2 engine for a fistfull of dollars in order to have a fair crack at the whip at a 3D FPS style game (titled Daikatana). Superb, smashing and great. Not only did Ion Storm purchase the engine, but they also added and modified it in an attempt to make it look bang up to date in comparison to its competitors. Other snazzy addtions such as the extra two NPCs (sidekicks), the time periods and in-game cinematics should add to the fuel to the already hot fire burning within the 3D FPS genre. Although the game has been delayed a number ot times, it is now set for a Q1 1999 release. At first glance back at 1997's ECTS trade show the game looked a little sketchy but has since come on leaps and bounds. So let's hope it's worth the wait. In the mean-time here are a few polaroids of Daikatana taken off of the latest Ion Storm EPK. We've also stuck up some artwork, so suck 'em down:
