Anyone up for a cooking lesson? Take 3 pounds of fresh storyline, mix in 4 ounces of wit and humor, sprinkle with some extra spicy soundtrack, blend with 2 tablespoons of character development, add 5 cups of Tim Schafer experience, stir well and cook on high for 24 months and the end result is one tasty adventure game with a flavor all its own: Grim Fandango.
Grim Fandango is unlike any other adventure game out there, yet embodies all the elements that made favorites like King's Quest classics today. Produced by the same man who developed Lucas Arts' Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle, Grim Fandango moves the bar up a few notches for all graphic adventures that are to follow. The game features a magnetic story, believable characters, lush graphics, a fresh interface and the best soundtrack in a game to date… and did we mention that the story was magnetic?
As an evolution within the genre, Grim Fandango does it all. Like most games, it emulates successful aspects of gameplay and incorporates them within itself. But it goes beyond that. Grim also enhances on tried and true aspects in some areas, and introduces brand new one in others. In so doing, Grim completely redefines the graphic adventure genre. Aspiring producers, pay close attention.
