This ship needs no introduction. Made famous by Lucas's A New Hope in the late 70's, the classic "X" cross section of this Rebel favorite (called the S-foils) is instantly recognizable by millions of fans worldwide. Within Rogue Squadron, the X-wing acts as the happy medium between the faster, weaker craft and the more powerful but sluggish gunships. It's four blaster cannons can be paired up to fire two-by-two or linked to fire all at once. The X-wing also acts as a strong air-to-ground strike fighter with its powerful proton torpedoes. In sticky situations, the X-wing can close its S-foils for more speed, although while closed it loses the ability to fire its cannons.

Before the Rebels acquired the X-wing, their fleets were led by the Y-wing, a bigger, slower version of the newer X-wing. But what the Y-wing lacks in mobility it more than makes up in firepower and durability. Thanks to its thick armor and heavy shields the Y-wing can take a pounding and still bring its pilot home safely. This bird also dishes out the beatings, courtesy of its two blasters, single ion cannon and payload of bombs.

The A-Wing is the fastest Rebel ship at your disposal. Unfortunately, for its speed and agility it trades off firepower and strength. Three to four direct blaster hits is all it takes to down it. Its small size and extreme maneuverability make it almost impossible to hit however.

Made famous by the Battle of Hoth during Lucas's The Empire Strikes Back, the Airspeeder isn't a powerhouse in terms of strength, nor is it very mobile. In fact, it's the only ship that can't achieve free-flight. Instead it's limited to high speed hovering with minimal climbing capabilities. The Airspeeder is outfitted with two blaster cannons and a tow cable to tackle Imperial AT-AT's and AT-ST's. Like the A-wing, the Airspeeder's armor doesn't do much in terms of protection.

The V-wing is a larger, more mobile version of the Airspeeder. It features linked cannons with an adjustable rate of fire, thicker armor and shields. Like the X-wing, the V-wing can boost out of sticky situations if needed, albiet for a limited time only.
