The feel of driving cars in Redline is completely and absolutely unrealistic. This means that driving in Redline is extremely easy to master and a hell of a lot of fun. It is totally unlike Carmageddon, where you cannot go over twenty miles an hour without losing control. Driving while firing is difficult, but you will learn in time. The designers did an excellent job on control. In no time at all you will find yourself running down pedestrians with skill and grace.
On foot, game play has quick response and good feel. A nice addition is the ability to dive to the left or right a lot like Lara Croft does her turn-around dive. You'll use this feature when someone attempts to grind you into the asphalt with a chrome bumper. The weapon is pretty refreshing too. "The" weapon? Yep! You will be armed with a handy blade rotating, assault rifle shooting, shotgun blasting, sniping, grenade launching, weird green energy shooting, rocket launching, chain gunning, gauss cannoning, EMP emitting thingamajig. What's refreshing is that all of these features are in one modular weapon that changes to whatever form you want. It's like having your own private Megatron transforming into whatever death delivering destruction device you desire. Groovy.
You are given twelve varied missions in which to do your dastardly duties. While they vary in goal, the actual game play is consistant. Driving combat is driving combat and foot combat is foot combat. You're much more powerful in a vehicle, so you will find yourself running like hell for the nearest car if you're on foot with a Red Sixer coming your way.
