Officer Bryant sits in his brand new police cruiser drinking black coffee and munching on a bear claw. He has cleverly parked himself behind a roadside billboard awaiting speeders. He hears the distant whine of an oncoming car approaching rapidly. Carefully placing the coffee in a cup holder in order not to spill on the clean upholstery, he starts the engine just as a McLaren F1 roars by. He looks up at his radar. The red LED flashes an angry 145MPH.

Turning off the engine, he reaches over calmly and grabs the radio. "HQ, this is Unit 225. We've got a speeder, a black McLaren F1, headed towards Old Tunnel Road. I can't catch him. I suggest a roadblock at the end of the tunnel."

"Copy Unit 225, we'll have Unit 226 set up a roadblock."

Officer Bryant takes a sip of coffee, musing over how much easier the job has been since the department replaced his V8 Crown Victoria with a V6 Lumina.

Need For Speed: High Stakes, Electronic Arts' newest in the Need For Speed racing series, combines ultra fast production cars with no rules racing in an attempt to bring you a great arcade driving experience. Do they succeed? Put your stick into second gear and find out.
