Although the excellent graphics are what stand out in Nocturne, the sound really does deserve special mention. The voice acting is absolutely top notch. The voice of the Stranger is suitably emotionless - the numerous lines of cold, unfeeling sarcasm are perfectly delivered. The other voices are also very well done and, most surprisingly, even the foreign voices are highly convincing, something most other games have somehow been unable to manage. As well as the excellent voice acting, sound in general is of a high standard throughout, with ear shattering lighting claps, werewolf howls to make your skin crawl and, at one point, you'll even find a female singer in a speakeasy performing a particularly sultry little number.
Although it isn't quite as frightening as we'd hoped, Nocturne is a gorgeous, entertaining and highly atmospheric game sure to please any fan of the horror genre. Similarly, fans of previous adventure games, particularly the Alone in the Dark games, will certainly enjoy it. Such is the quality of this title that most gamers would do well to pick it up and try it. Nocturne is both fresh and original as well as highly polished and well worth your hard earned pennies.
