We see a few nice drops on the prices of Pentium 4 processors this week. And this, of course, is because we have a new king of the hill in the form of the Pentium 4-2.53GHz/533, which got added to the weekly price guide this week. The question consumers will have to ask, though, is related to this week's other new addition, the slightly slower 2.4GHz/533MHz P4... Will people choose the less-expensive or faster alternative?
Where are they? Year after year, May has been a month where we see some exciting price slashing from both Intel and AMD. But while the faster P4's dropped, as a result of new Pentium 4 entries, and similar drops can be expected on the Athlon XP as the Thoroughbred finally gets released in the new future, we still haven't seen the type of slashing we've come to expect. Hopefully, further price cuts are still ahead.
How about Intel and AMD prices on the same page? Here you have it, starting with high-end CPUs.
