Intel Comments
We continue to see sizable drops on the fastest of the Pentium 4 processors, including an additional $56 drop on the price of the 2.4GHz/533 P4, which can now be found for $450. But while these drops make it tempting to buy... the lack of an officially announced slashing session makes one wonder if top-end prices will just keep on dropping even more.
General Comments
With some pretty hefty price drops to be found on both AMD and Intel's highest-end offerings, this week's guide will likely delight buyers who are determined to build or upgrade a speed-demon this week. The possibility of further drops on Intel processors might make it smarter to wait a week or two longer before deciding whether or not to buy; but with the fastest AMD consumer processor now at under $150, now's as good a time to buy an Athlon XP as any.
