Weekly CPU Prices - Week of August 19, 2002 - Page 2

Now you're going to start drooling when you see the huge price drop on the 2.53GHz/533 P4. But with the 2.8GHz P4 already appearing on Pricewatch in a limited fashion and price drops rumored for the end of the month... there's a chance that you'll kick yourself if you take the bait and buy now. So I'd probably play it safe and wait another week before making the purchase.

General Comments

This should be an interesting couple of weeks for the CPU price guides. AMD has a new flagship processor out this week, and Intel expected to release one in the very near future. How much movement this will continue to cause in tracked prices is anyone's guess... but given that any movement is more likely to be down than up, it might make sense to keep our money in our pockets for another week or two and wait out the storm.
