Now THESE are price drops. After going so long without a price slashing session, it's nice to see such huge cuts in a weekly CPU guide. But even after a whopping $60/61 price drop on the Retail and OEM flavors of Intel's flagship 3.06GHz Pentium 4 processors, the premium you pay over the next-fastest Pentium 4-2.8GHz seems like too much of a fee to pay just to have bragging rights. More exciting are the lower prices on the Pentium 4-2.53GHz OEM and Retail versions which fell $40 and $35 respectively. That brings both these processors under the $200 mark, and targets them with a bullseye for value hunters.
With a bunch of huge price cuts on the higher end of the Intel charts and a few notable ones on the AMD charts, this is the most exciting weekly CPU price guide we've had in quite a while. We know it's unlikely that this will be repeated; but here's hoping that we'll be seeing lower prices in the near future.
