We see very little movement in this week's Intel charts, with a $15 drop on the retail Pentium 4-2.53GHz being the biggest price cut of the week. But with AMD's prices having moved down in the past two weeks, we're hoping that Intel will follow suit and give Pentium 4 enthusiasts something to get excited about.
While we didn't end up seeing massive price cuts across-the-board, as we'd been hoping the end of May would bring, the lower prices at the higher end of the AMD charts (some of the effect of which was diluted by vendors implementing partial preemptive drops of their own over the past weeks) are nonetheless good news for Athlon XP buyers. But while some may be disappointed that we didn't see more action than we did, we remain hopeful that the coming months will bring us increased competition between the Intel and AMD camps, both in terms of pricing and product availability.
