Weekly CPU Prices - Week of August 4, 2003 - Page 2

After a week without the usual scattered drops on XEONs, we get a $22 decrease on the price of the 2.6GHz Pentium 4 XEON. Beyond that, Intel processors are even more stable than the AMD crop, there's very little of note in this week's Intel list. Of utmost concern is the increasing price gap between the Pentium 4 and Celeron lines, which makes finding a higher-end P4 deal virtually impossible for entry-level buyers.

General Comments

For the umpteenth week in a row, we see price levels holding very steady, and it's making us wonder if prices are ever going to drop. But with August historically being a time when price cuts do occur, we're hoping for an impending break in the recent monotony.
