We have more of the same old story this week, as yet another guide passes with few prices dropping at all in the Intel chart, and many others staying put. The largest price decrease in the chart was a measly $4 off the cost of the Pentium 4-2.4GHz and about half of the other Intel prices are right where they were last week.
While we have some movement in the AMD charts this week, the Intel section of the guide is pretty much frozen in place. Until we see some actual competition between the two camps in terms of new product lines, it's uncertain how much and how fast prices are going drop on AMD's newest, and most expensive, Athlon 64 offerings. But October has historically been a month when Intel has dropped prices, so we're hopeful that some near-future guide will contain more excitement than this one does.
