Sure enough, the cuts we saw in last week's Intel charts were followed up by more big drops in this week's guide. With the flagship Pentium 4-3.2GHz/800 processor decreasing by another $30, following last week's $150 slide, it can now be had for under $400. But the biggest drops in this week's guide came in on the OEM and retail versions of the next-fastest Pentium 4-3.0GHz/800 processor, keeping it secure in its position of offering the best Intel bang for buck.
Finally, we can call this a CPU Price Guide with some honest-to-goodness excitement. There were several huge price cuts throughout the charts, and while most of the action hit the Intel side, AMD fans will find reason to rejoice as well. Sure, something better and faster is always around the corner, but for now, those who've been looking to upgrade to a new high-end processor can do so at a better value than we've seen in quite a while.
