As in the AMD charts, the Intel section of the CPU guide has very little to get excited about. But while the next really big thing, the Prescott core revision, is still a while away, the next big release, the Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Extreme Edition, should be coming along a bit sooner. These new Pentium 4 EE models are available in full-system configurations, but we will have to wait a bit longer for the actual processors to hit the streets in retail form.
With nothing new in the way of product introductions, it's not surprising that prices are holding steady. But hopefully the impending availability of the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors will breathe some new life into the weekly CPU price guide, preferably by sparking renewed competition between the Intel and AMD camps.
