We see only one significant price drop in this week's Intel price list; and given that that is a $49 drop on the price of the 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Xeon, leaving it at the price of $850, it's not going to make many a person's day. Beyond that, we see little downward movement, and even a few examples of price increases, most noticeably the Pentium 4-3.0E GHz Prescott.
This week's guide is as slow as we've had in quite a while, especially with the top-end Athlon 64 and Pentium 4 models. While not completely devoid of price drops, our charts are near enough to completely stagnant to put many a consumer to sleep. But we remain hopeful that as the weather starts warming up, so too will the competition between the two rival processor camps. Instead of filtering-down the chart with new Athlon 64 2800+ and Pentium 4-2.4E GHz Prescott releases, we'd love to see some faster models in the near future.
