We see a few nice drops in this week's Intel charts, but they're few and far between. A $21 drop on the price of the 2.8GHz Celeron, for example, is nothing to scoff at, and neither is a $16 cut to the price of the Pentium 4-3.0E GHz Prescott P4. But with its 3.2GHz and 3.4GHz siblings expected to become available in the near future, one might want to wait and see what affect their debuts will have on existing prices before making any Prescott purchases.
We're finally starting to see some notable price drops in the guide, though they're scattered among the Intel and AMD charts. But while it may be tempting to go ahead and purchase a processor that just dropped in price, after weeks of waiting, history should have taught any regular reader of the guide that it's always best to wait and see if this is the beginning of a series of such drops and new product introductions, rather than risk regretting it later.
