There are a few gems to be found in this week's Intel CPU charts, the most notable of which is a $107 drop in the price of the Pentium 4 550 (3.4GHz). The Pentium 4 540 and 530 also dropped by $51 and $19 respectively, and there also a few double-digit cuts to Pentium 4-3.0 to 3.4 GHz Socket 478 processors as well. While the rest of the list is far less exciting, the handful of processors with deeper cuts are enough to keep this week's guide from being the bore fest some recent editions have been.
After weeks of CPU Price Guides that are so slow we might as well have slept through them, there is finally a ray of sunshine, in the form of fairly significant cuts on the Intel high-end. Of course, these were limited in scope, and the majority of price changes are less exciting, especially on the AMD side.
