This week's Intel CPU prices lack even the small bit of excitement that we saw in the AMD charts, with most processors holding right where they've been for weeks. The 3.8 GHz Pentium 4 670 posted the only double-digit price drop of the week, and the biggest price change, unfortunately, is a $21 increase to the 3.06 GHz Celeron 345J. Even the normally active dual core Pentium D and Pentium EE 840 models are stagnant, with none posting a price cut of over $7.
Unfortunately, the drops in this week's CPU Price Guide are even more widely scattered than in the last edition. There was some nice activity at the high-end of the AMD scale, with some Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 models showing some signs of life, but otherwise things look pretty bleak, especially on the Intel side. With only a handful of processors dropping by more than a few dollars, and a few actually moving upwards, it might be hard to get too excited about the current CPU market, even though new processor models are being released at a breakneck pace.
