Not to be outdone by the AMD section of the guide, the Intel chart also contains some very significant drops, with the single core Pentium 4 6xx series receiving the majority of the attention. The 3.8 GHz Pentium 4 670 fell by a whopping $220, while the Pentium 4 650 (3.4 GHz) and Pentium 4 660 (3.6 GHz) were not far behind, with cuts of $126 and $93 respectively. Even the price of lower-clocked 3.0-3.2 GHz models dropped by a noticeable amount, although this did not filter down to the Pentium 4 5xx series or Socket 478 models. The dual core Pentium D and Pentium EE 840 also showed virtually no movement, so it was really an opportunity for Pentium 4 6xx series buyers to grab a deal.
After having gone through such a long dry spell, during which price drops seemed like rare oases in a desert of stagnant prices, it's nice to see that this week followed up on last week's price drops with even more impressive cuts. And best of all, buyers will find something to like in both the Intel and AMD sections of the guide.
