Weekly CPU Prices - Week of November 7, 2005 - Page 2

If you thought last week's Intel prices were stagnant, just wait until you see what this week's chart looks like. We have a $7 drop to the 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 540J, two $2 drops, and a handful of $1 drops... and that's it. The remaining processors are right where they were in last week's guide and in the last few guides that preceded it. This is very surprising, at least on the dual core end of things, as the Pentium D 820-840 models have failed to react to the deep price cuts that the Athlon 64 X2 line received a few weeks back.

General Comments

Stability is the current processor trend, and a handful of modest price drops are all we have to report in this week's CPU Price guide. The overwhelming majority of processor prices are holding right where they've been for weeks, and it seems like Intel hasn't dropped prices in an eon or two. Hopefully there will be some better news to report as we move further along into the holiday shopping season, and maybe both companies will decide to play Santa Claus rather than the Grinch.
