A number of the Celeron and Pentium 4/D processors tracked in the Intel charts experienced minor price shifts in this week's guide, but each was just a few dollars... and nothing that will send you running for your wallets. Only eight of the 29 Intel processors we track dropped in price at all, in fact; and none fell by more than $5. Once again, we're very surprised that the dual core Pentium D models have not dropped in response to AMD's cuts of a month ago. At this point, it may take the upcoming 65nm Presler models to jump-start the Intel price list.
On average, AMD and Intel processor prices are, once again, pretty much where they've been for weeks. Neither of the major sections of this guide contains much that will get anyone excited, making this an unremarkable start to the holiday shopping season. We're hoping that AMD and Intel start getting with the program, and either lower prices a bit, or start releasing newer and faster processors.
