The Intel CPU price list may be a bit more active than on the AMD side, but that's definitely not saying much. A $4 drop in the price of the 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 820 is the best this week's Intel chart has to offer, and even worse, there are also a few increases to report, including a $10 jump in the price of the 3.8 GHz Pentium 4 670. The overwhelming majority of processors in the chart are either holding steady or inching upwards in price.
Across both the AMD and Intel sections of the guide, stagnant CPU prices remain the norm, and when you remove the server-based Opteron drops, the desktop market is looking very stable indeed. Overall, the number of price changes remained few and far between for yet another consecutive week, but we're hoping that the recent Pentium D 900 series and Athlon 64 FX-60 releases will do something to change this trend.
