The Intel chart is almost as devoid of price activity as the AMD section of the guide was. But a $14 drop to the price of the 2.8 GHz Pentium D 820 and the long-overdue guide debut of the big ticket Pentium 965 Extreme Edition, keep it from being quite so complete of a wash. There were a few other smaller cuts to report, as the 3.0 GHz Pentium D 930 and 2.8 GHz Celeron D 335 processors both fell $8, while the majority of listings stayed at last week's price levels.
Things continue to settle down after the little flurry of Pentium D price drops we saw a couple of weeks ago. Neither of the major sections of the guide, in fact, contains enough in the way of consistent price drops to get anyone excited. However, we remain hopeful that the coming weeks will hold both new product announcements and the corresponding downward pressure on existing CPU prices.
