The Intel processor listings start out very calm, with the majority of Celeron D and Pentium 4 entries sporting prices very similar to last week. Where things get interesting is when we hit the Pentium D section, and find quite a few prices dropping by double digits. These include the Pentium D 830 (-$14), the Pentium D 920 (-$14), and the Pentium D 940 (-$10) dual core models, and the Pentium 955 Extreme Edition even got into the act with a $12 price drop. Overall, it's a very good week for Pentium D buyers, as many of the already-low prices have dropped even further.
Overall AMD and Intel processor price levels did not drop by any significant amount this week, but we still found some activity. The new Socket AM2 models still have not had an impact on Socket 939 prices, but many of the new AMD processors are in short supply or have not reached the mass market yet. Intel Pentium D prices continue to decrease, which is surprising given the AMD price structure and the impending release of the Intel Conroe desktop line.
