For the most part, this week's Intel prices are as slow as their AMD counterparts. But a couple of the prices we track bucked the trend, with the Celeron D 330 falling by $13 and the Pentium D 830 falling by a whopping $42. Intel is expected to keep up the pressure on AMD with continued price drops to the Pentium D 800 and 900 series, at least until the Core 2 Duo/Conroe makes its official appearance.
While most of the prices we track are holding fairly steady in this week's guide, a few gems are there to be found in all the rough. Hopefully the coming weeks will see such gems become less and less of a rarity in the Weekly CPU Price Guide. This might be closer than we think, especially as AMD is rumored to be following up their single core price slashing (from last week), with a similar range of cuts to the dual core Athlon 64 X2 line. These cuts will reportedly be just as significant, so it's not going to be a drop in the AMD bucket.
