This week's Intel CPU prices are every bit as slow and uneventful as we saw in this week's AMD charts. The biggest price change, in fact, was a $14 increase in the price of the Pentium 4 670, with most others either holding steady or even inching upwards in price. There was some downward movement in the Pentium D 900 line, and although no cut exceeded $5, it is nice to see dual core prices continuing to inch down.
The couple of modest price drops that are here to be found in this week's guide are unlikely to send many processors buyers running for their wallets. But as the Intel Core 2 Duo/Conroe release date approaches, we expect these consistent pricing trends to evaporate in very short order, as the new processors will push the Pentium D line down further and AMD is rumored to be looking to start a price war.
