Almost exactly mirroring the AMD section of the guide, this week's Intel processor chart contains one modest drop and one significant one. The 3.2 GHz XEON 5060 Dual Core received a $12 price drop, while the 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 651 literally fell through the floor, shedding $102 off its retail price. The rest of the Intel CPU prices in the chart, meanwhile, either held steady or changed by just a few dollars up or down.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the huge drops we saw in last week's guide are no exception. Though a handful of additional price drops do still manage to shine through in this week's issue, prices have mostly settled back down. One potential reason is that most of the Core 2 Duo and Extreme processors are still in pre-order, back order, or "out of stock" status, and it looks like it may take Intel a few more weeks for production and distribution to catch up to the incredible demand.
