There is a bit more downward price movement in the Intel charts than we saw in the AMD section of the guide... but not much. A number of processors fell by modest amounts, and there was even some surprising activity at the Pentium 4 range, with a few dropping by noticeable amounts - the 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 651 shed $17 off its price and fell below the $200 mark. Of course, the most noteworthy price cuts hit the new Core 2 line, with a $22 cut to the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700 and an $85 drop in the price of Intel's flagship 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800.
A few modest price drops scattered throughout the AMD and Intel charts help keep things somewhat interesting, though none fell by nearly enough to spark much of a buying frenzy. Even the Core 2 Extreme X6800's $85 price drop did little to affect the overall price, which still sits above $1K. All in all, it's been a fairly uneventful week for CPU prices, but on the bright side, overall processor value has likely never been better.
