Weekly CPU Prices - Week of September 18, 2006 - Page 2

As in the AMD charts, Intel price decreases are relatively few and far between this week. A few modest price drops can be found here, as could be in the other camp's section of the guide; but they're no more likely to cause a stir than those similarly modest drops are. The higher-end of the Intel dual core list is where the only noticeable activity took place, and the Pentium D 960 and Pentium EE 965 both fell by double digits. These price drops were matched by the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700 and 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800, and the entire Core 2 line displayed lower prices.

General Comments

Once again, overall AMD and Intel processor prices are mostly holding steady, with only modest drops to be found peppering a mostly bland guide. And while the amounts of those drops might occasionally seem significant, those generally come on the higher-priced Athlon 64 FX and Core 2 Duo/Extreme processors, and don't really help the entry-level or mainstream buyer.
