There is slightly more downward movement to be found among Intel prices than what we saw in the AMD charts, with the biggest being a $23 drop in the price of the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700, and the more modest drops being scattered a bit more liberally here in the Intel section of the guide. We again see the Intel Core 2 processors leading the way, and the price of the 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800 fell by $15. While a few XEON models also dropped by noticeable amounts, the only other noticeable price cut on the desktop side was a $10 drop to the Pentium D 820 (2.8 GHz).
A few price drops, here and there, help keep things interesting for CPU bargain hunters this week. And there is no denying that you're almost certain to get a whole lot bang for your buck, especially with the dual core Athlon 64 X2 and Core 2 Duo/Extreme processors, even without any serious price drops hitting recently. But we would still love to see some additional downward price movement in the coming weeks, just to make a great deal even better.
