If you were thinking that the Intel section of the guide couldn't possibly be any more devoid of price drops than the AMD section was, prepare to be amazed. Only one processor price fell by more than a few dollars; and even that was just a $7 drop in the price of the 3.6 GHz Pentium D 960. This is also the first time we've seen prices on the Intel Core 2 Duo/Extreme line remain stable, as these CPUs have been receiving consistent - albeit nominal - price drops since their introduction.
Once again, price drops remain few and far between in this week's CPU price guide, with only a handful of Intel and AMD processors dropping at all and none dropping by very much. It's likely going to take new product releases to get prices moving down again, so it's good that talk has already begun of new Intel quad-core processors being around the corner, as well as AMD's upcoming 4x4 platform.
